Post Operative Checklist

  • After your Breast Augmentation, drinking plenty of fluids is necessary (sugarfree).
  • As with any surgery, always try to have someone with you for first 48 hours.
  • Do not worry or get anxious much since it will worse up the breast implants. Just go it.
  • Use visualization – relax and imagine the breast implants getting soft, dropping, healing quickly, looking beautiful.
  • To get up from the edge of the couch, put your feet about 2-3 feet apart with your toes pointing out, bend your knees, try to keep a straight back and then stand up by straightening your knees (like a ballerina). Hold on to your breast since the breast implants will make your breasts sore.
  • Take your medicine according to the doctor prescription. You don’t have to be in pain necessarily.
  • Constantly tell youself to relax – especially your shoulders.
  • Listen to your body and don’t overdo it.
  • Eat if you get hungry when recovering from breast augmentation / or mastopexy surgery.
  • Get lots of rest – sleep if you are tired after your ‘big day;.
  • Start to walk around a little as soon as possible and get some fresh air.
  • Use triple antibiotic ointment with liners to cover your stiches on your breasts.
  • Put pillows under your arms for support
  • If you have to remove blood stained dried gauze pads, do it in the shower with luke warm water since they will work free on their own. Make sure you are allowed to shower before you do this!
  • Use ice on the swelling and bruises 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off if this is ok with your doctor.
  • Let people help you after your breast surgery!
  • Sleeping on couch is easier for those patients who are used sleeping on sides or stomach since it gives you back support.
  • Pulling is tough and it is easier without underpants. Better to an elastic waisted skirt rather than pants since it will be easier to pull down. No reaching to pull up.
