Breast Implants

Breast implants are largely silicon-based prosthesis that is used in breast enlargement procedures. They are available in various types and builds to support individual needs which help in the improvement of the shape, size, and texture of breasts.

Breast enlargement surgery with the help of breast implants is the most popular and commonly sought procedure in the UK besides the fat grafting technique which also helps in serving the same purpose.

At Perfect Breast Clinic , we make use of only medical graded safe breast implants and have delivered a high rate of successful and satisfied clients or past patients with whom we have succeeded in building a relationship of trust and happiness.

Breast implants usually comprise a soft and solid silicon shell or bag that is filled with either silicone or a saline water solution.

Silicone implants are made up entirely of a silicone shell and filing, and represents the traditional form of a breast implant. Silicone implants are widely preferred by patients and surgeons alike thanks to its naturalistic appearance and the overall look it creates following a breast augmentation procedure. They are also popular for their longevity and the variety of options they offer in terms of the shape and size.

Saline implants comprise a solid silicon shell and consistent filing of sterile salt water that, in case of any rupture or leakage, would pose the least threat of causing any infection upon introduction to the intravenous fluids in the body.

Cohesive/Gummy Bear implants represent the latest or fifth generation of silicone implant types. They are generally called as the gummy bear implants that have a filing of thick consistency of silicone gel inside a thicker shell of silicone. This is done primarily to overcome the possibility of a leakage of the filing in case the implant ever ruptures. Even in the situation that a rupture does take place the thick gel remains consistent and does not leak into the body. This standard implant provides more of a natural breast enhancement rather than a breast enlargement.

Expandable Implants bring an option of flexibility in terms of choosing the exact shape and size that the patient desires. The chest wall has a silicone port inserted after which it can be left as it is or further filled with saline or silicone gel as per the desire of the patient.

Reconstructive breast implants have an outer shell of silicone base. This is placed under the breast tissue and often involves the use of a tissue expander. Once the breast implant is in the right place and position, the saline solution is injected into it as a substitute for the natural breast tissue.

Implant Shapes and Sizes

There are primarily two types of implant shapes to choose from: Round shape and Teardrop/Anatomic shape with further builds and sizes under them to meet the varied desires of the patients. For an elevated cleavage a Round implant provides the best support while the Teardrop shape supports fullness from the bottom of the breasts. Based on these two builds an implant could be classified as tall, narrow, wide, or flat.

Cup sizes are not used to determine the sizes; rather, it is done on the basis of cubic centimeters starting from 175cc and going all the way up to 900cc for a C or D cup size.

Conclusion

The shape, size, and type of breast implant are largely determined based on the expectations of the patient and suggestions from the surgeon. Our surgeons have an immense understanding to provide the right kind of guidance regarding your choice but at the end of the day it is the patient whose full consented decision is required for the surgery to be successfully executed.
